Launch of our Ethics Workshop: The Impact of Digital Life on Society
We are running a new ethics workshop.
This semester we began our course “Digital Life” which is open to all Master level and PhD students.
The 3-day intensive workshop focuses on understanding and managing the ethical and social issues arising from the integration of new technologies in various aspects of daily life. Beginning with fundamentals such as the nature of ethics, consent and big data, students are introduced to key ethical concepts like fairness and autonomy as well as different ways of reasoning about the ethics of digital technologies.
The workshop then moves to analyse carefully selected case studies to explore tools to highlight key ethical questions and explore tools for ethical practice. Throughout, the emphasis is on learning to make sound arguments about the ethical aspects of policy, practice and research.
