New paper: AI explainability in healthcare

This paper assesses the role of explainability in medical AI by using a multidisciplinary approach.

by Nur Jabbes

The lack of explainability in the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare continues to spark criticism. This paper adopts a multidisciplinary approach to analyse the relevance of explainability for medical AI from the technological, legal, medical, and patient perspectives. It also makes an ethical evaluation of what explainability means for the adoption of AI-driven tools into clinical practice.
