New paper: Reporting Genetic Findings to Individual Research Participants

This paper examines the process of developing guidance, and the guidance itself, for reporting genetic results to individual research participants in SPHN funded projects.

The team of Alessandro Blasimme, Caroline Brall and Effy Vayena are the researchers behind this new paper, "Reporting Genetic Findings to Individual Research Participants: Guidelines From the Swiss Personalized Health Network" (SPHN).


In May 2020, the SPHN advisory group on Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications (ELSI) issued its recommendation on “Reporting actionable genetic findings to research participants”. In this new paper, the researchers outline the development of this recommendation and the provisions it contains.

The paper seeks to promote a better understanding of the proposed guidance, as well as to contribute to the global dialogue on the reporting of genetic research findings.
